Ready to have the best summer ever?
We thought so.

There are many ways to volunteer at Camp Wapiyapi. Be prepared to have your life changed for the better. Volunteers can apply to be either part of the camp staff or a member of the medical team. Below we have outlined the steps you will need to take to be a volunteer this summer. First, you have to decide if you will be a member of the summer camp staff or the medical team?

Be a part of our summer camp staff:

volunteer
Camp Wapiyapi’s summer counselors or as we call them, companions, have varied interests and backgrounds. And they each give in in their own special, unique way. Some companions are in the medical profession or plan to be. Others don’t want anything to do with a stethoscope, but are talented with a basketball or a paintbrush, have the gift of listening, or know just the right moment to give a hug.

As a companion, you will be paired with a camper between the ages of 6 and 14 years of age and you will provide the child with one-on-one attention for the entire session. Be prepared to fly down the zip line, have water gun fights, climb a ropes course or master archery, participate in the talent show, dance, and more — all in a unique Camp Wapiyapi way. Everything is about having fun in a safe environment, acting like a kid, and being silly.

Being a summer companion is a one-of-a-kind experience. You will never forget the impact you made on a young person’s life. You will also have the time of your life. We also have some other full-time roles. Check out the list of summer positions here.

If you cannot serve full-time for a session, there are some part-time opportunities available as space allows.  Contact us at wapiyapi@wapiyapi.org to learn more.

Please note that volunteers may serve one (1) or two (2) sessions at camp as they are available.

  6. Attend training at camp the day before the session starts.
